The Berkshire County Sheriff's Office proudly attended a ribbon cutting to celebrate Second Street Second Chances expanding their program space.
Established in 2022, "2nd Street" has assisted more than 1,000 individuals with medical and mental health, housing, job training, legal services, and more. The nonprofit has expanded to meet the demand for post-incarceration services in Berkshire.
The Berkshire County Sheriff's Office provides the space for free, including utilities and maintenance. Sheriff Thomas Bowler announced in the beginning in 2025, the office will take on the majority of 2nd Street's operational expenses.
In a Facebook post, the Berkshire County Sheriff's Office wrote:
"We are so proud of the incredible work being done at 2nd Street! The process of rehabilitation for each client begins at the House of Correction, where they are supported from day one. Through 2nd Street, clients are provided with the essential resources to ensure that every individual has the tools and skills necessary to change the trajectory of their lives. Together, we are building stronger futures!"
