Hampden Sheriff's Office Mounted Patrol Unit Shines at North American Police Equestrian Council Competition

The Hampden County Sheriff's Office's Mounted Patrol Unit clinched a first place among several top-10 rankings at the North American Police Equestrian Council's training conference and competition in Virginia.

As part of the many National Police Week events in and around Washington from May 12-18, the Hampden team joined dozens of other law enforcement agencies from across the U.S. and Canada in the two-day competition. The HCSO team also participated in National Police Week official ceremonies in Washington, including the 44th National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service.

“I am so proud of our Mounted Patrol Unit for representing Hampden County in Washington during National Police Week and for doing so well in the competition," Sheriff Nick Cocchi said. "Our Mounted Patrol Unit is still relatively new, and to have such high rankings against so many competitors, it speaks to their professionalism and dedication to their assignment."
